North Port, FL – The fourth 2011 North Port Entrepreneurial Academy was held in March - May, 2011.
In 2010, over 2600 new businesses started in Sarasota County. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration over 50% of new startup small businesses are not around after first five years. Some reasons given for this statistic are; lack of experience operating a business, poor management, competition, insufficient capital for startup, lack of planning and no marketing. The North Port Entrepreneurial Academy will address these factors and more so when a new business opens its doors, it has a much better than 50% chance of succeeding.
Designed as a Basic Training program for start-up Entrepreneurs with a business idea or a refresher course for those in business, the Entrepreneurial Academy is a series of eight workshops that focus on the basics of opening, operating and growing a business.
The Academy begins with Orientation Meetings that look at the importance of Small Business in the area’s economy, the skills needed to operate a small business and how the Entrepreneurial Academy prepares an Entrepreneur to successfully start and grow their business.
Workshop topics include; Business Basics, Starting a Business in North Port, Basic Bookkeeping, Business Planning, Managing, Marketing, Financing your Business and Building your Business Plan.
The cost of the Entrepreneurial Academy is $150.00. This includes eight weeks of instruction by Business Professionals, a four book Resource Library for graduates to keep and use after the Academy, a basic Business Plan to help with Finance Applications and/or Business Operations, access to a Business Counselor to assist in opening and operating the business, a Certificate of Completion and a six month Free Membership in the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce.
